Relationship counselling for individuals and couples stuck in painful patterns

About AA Therapy

I’m Anastasia Auld, a PACFA-registered counsellor and the founder of AA Therapy, offering relationship-focused counselling for individuals and couples in Melbourne and online.

I support individuals struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, and relationship difficulties, as well as couples who feel stuck in repeated conflict, emotional disconnection, or on the brink of separation. Many clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, uncertain how things became so painful, and unsure what steps to take next.

I use evidence-based approaches including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Transactional Analysis, integrating emotional depth with practical, real-world change. Therapy with me is structured, compassionate, and focused on helping you move forward with clarity and confidence.

An excellent psychotherapist —compassionate, insightful and highly professional. She creates a safe, non-judgmental environment and offers thoughtful, practical guidance. She also has a great understanding of relationship dynamics and helps with practical ways to improve communication between people without taking sides. I’m very grateful for her support and would highly recommend her.

I’ve had a wonderful experience with my therapist Anastasia. I always feel genuinely heard, understood and supported, and the sessions are thoughtful, practical and tailored to me. I often leave with a clearer perspective and something useful to take away. I’m very grateful for the support and would highly recommend them.

We went through couples therapy with Anastasia, and I can't say enough about how much she helped us. In just three sessions, the change was like night and day. For the first time in a long time, my husband truly heard me. We went from barely speaking and feeling angry—on the verge of divorce—to reconnecting with the love and care we had forgotten. Anastasia is not only highly professional and well-equipped, but she also has an incredible personality, full of empathy and deep understanding. We are so grateful for her support! We look forward to continuing our journey with her, not just to work through challenges but to talk about our dreams and goals as well.

How does it work?

My work focuses on understanding relationship patterns: how emotional experiences, stress, and past relationships shape the way we relate to ourselves and others. Whether you attend therapy individually or as a couple, we work to identify what keeps you stuck and develop healthier, more secure ways of responding.

If you’re feeling caught in the same arguments, questioning your relationship, or struggling with anxiety and self-doubt, therapy can provide a space to slow things down, understand what’s happening beneath the surface, and begin changing patterns that no longer serve you.
